A girl who loves saffron, its secrets, its mystery, and best of all loves its hint of magic travels from rural Cornwall where she grew saffron to the colour and chaos of Marrakech after the death of her beloved mother.
She meets a young photographer trying to unravel the story behind her family's involvement in the Vietnam War. The two women develop a close friendship and discover a surprising connection between their own pasts. They discover the richness of the Moroccan culture while it takes them on a journey to find their own 'saffron trail' - to their families' origins.
The pace is a little slow, an easy holiday read.
