It was written in1936 about the investigation of a film actress, known as Christine Clay found dead on a lonely south coast of England beach. Scotland Yard's Inspector Alan Grant is on the case but a nightmare of false leads and baffling clues. Suicide or murder?
Was it Bobby Tisdall, who had been sharing the cottage where Christine Clay had been hiding, Christine Clay's rich husband, a celebrity astrologer who had predicted Christine Clay's death, the director of her latest film, or the American songwriter who may have been a boyfriend. Then a surprise in her will and what happened to the coat with the missing button?
It is well written story with likeable characters, and it’s a good pleasant read.
