This book received an agreed score of 7/10 from the group. It was decided by all that it had been an enjoyable light read, nothing offensive, a gentle English murder mystery drama. It was generally everyone's perception of village life with several eccentric characters. It was thought Agatha Raisin was a reasonably believable character and that her childhood had moulded her character and her choice of the Cotswolds was because of her happy childhood memories. Village life was portrayed well but Agatha found it difficult to adjust. Retirement did not suit her nor could she quite manage the politeness to fit in with those around her as she lacked social skills. It was well written and several of the group are going to read more of the series.
